The Online Writing Game - Write Fiction With Friends

FictionDash is a real-time online writing game. Writers build their skills in a fast-paced multiplayer environment, racing against the clock in two different game modes to come up with good stories in a time-crunch.
This practice allows writers to worry less about re-editing every little bit of their works, and helps them jump right into building characters and worlds. It's too common that we get stuck on one little thing and feel the creativity drain into trying to fix it, leaving everything else untouched. Being timed forces you to think on your feet, and you have a lot more fun writing with friends!

Classic Mode

In Classic mode, every player in the lobby is given the same story prompt, and they respond to the prompt before time runs out. If you're the host of the game, you can configure this timer, and you will have a Start Game button next to your Response button. After the timer runs out, a voting round begins, and each player gets to vote on which story they think was the best. The voting round ends after another time the host has specified runs out, and the winner who received the most votes is announced. In the case of a tie, everyone who received the most votes wins.

Party Mode

Party mode is more laid back. The host of the game clicks Start Game, and begins a story however they want to, and every player in the lobby is given a turn, one by one, to continue it however they see fit. Everyone can see what's currently being typed. There's no voting round, just write to your heart's content! The game ends after 5 minutes and players go 30 seconds at a time by default, but the host can change both of these.

How Do I Host a Game and Invite People?

Once you register an account and log in, hover over your username in the top right corner of the page, and click the "Host Game" button. Give your friends the lobby name you choose and they can join your game from the homepage. They do not need accounts to join your game, you only need one to host games.
